Who are We?
KMEIA is a community of music educators who are inspired by the educational and aesthetic philosophies of the Hungarian composer Zoltán Kodály. Our members seek to adapt his ideas to create programs of excellence for Australian children. As a professional association, KMEIA upholds the highest standards of music education through supporting and resourcing Australian music teachers.
Our aims are:

Promote the principles of Zoltan Kodaly through classes, workshops, conferences, publications and training courses.

Equip music educators with the tools and inspiration to be the best music teachers they can be.
- Be a relevant, vibrant and valauble professional network for music educators.

Improve music education for the children of Australia through our work and our association with other music organisations.

Participate in the global network of the International Kodaly Society
For over 25 years KMEIA members have worked to develop programmes based on the successful Hungarian model and adapted for Australian students. Our members comprise of classroom and instrumental music teachers; choral and ensemble conductors; schools and other educational bodies.
