The third of a series of four workshops. This workshops will include ideas for using instruments with young children as well as traditional singing games.
Presenter: Heather McLaughlin was the first Australian to study at the Kodaly Institute in Kecskemet, Hungary, and followed this with an Orff course in Salzburg many years ago. She has special interests in baby and preschool music, family music making, and the use of instruments in the primary classroom and has taught at many workshops, conferences and courses around Australia and internationally. In recent times she taught in Japan for five years. She currently teaches music in Melbourne primary schools, and aims for a balance between social enjoyment and the development of children's skills.
About the workshops: The series of Early Childhood afternoon workshops provide resources and repertoire to use when working with children 3-5 years. The sessions will include the development of rhythm, beat, singing and listening. Games and musical activities that are fun for both you and the children will be presented. There will also be time for teachers to share their own ideas and network with others. These sessions are designed to be ideal to include in early childhood teachers' professional development quota. Certificates of attendance will be provided.
The date for the final workshop for this year is 23 October.
