Amendments to Free Student Membership and AKA/AKC Application Requirements

I wish to advise you of two recent decisions made by the Kodály Australia National Council concerning membership.

Our free student membership trial has proven to be popular and we are broadening the conditions to include Bachelor of Music students (all majors) in our pursuit to support those who will be involved in music education in the future. The full list of conditions can be accessed on our website (https://kodaly.org.au/membership/free-student-membership-trial/). Please continue to spread the word about this fantastic opportunity.

The National Council also recently approved a recommendation by the Education Committee to amend the application requirements for the Australian Kodály Award (AKA) and Certificate (AKC). From 1 July 2019 candidates are now required to be financial members of the Kodály Music Education Institute of Australia Incorporated at the time of application for accreditation. It is hoped this change will support candidates and strengthen the connection between AKA/AKC graduates and the Kodály Australia community. If you have completed your Level courses for your AKA/AKC and are yet to apply for accreditation, I encourage you to do so. The updated application form can be accessed on our website (https://kodaly.org.au/akc/documents/).

As we begin Semester 2, it is the perfect opportunity to explore offerings by your state branch for the remainder of the year on our website (https://kodaly.org.au/event/). For our members soon travelling to Malaysia for the International Kodály Symposium, I wish you safe travels and look forward to catching up with you in person.

Best wishes
