The group owes it's present strength to Judith Johnson and her dedication, hard work and frequent travel in presenting the full Kodaly Certificate in a series of 8 units over 2 years in the late 90's. These members then presented the now Methodology 1 and Musicianship 1 Courses themselves in 2004 and have attracted several new members of committee who are very enthusiastic about the innovative teaching programs developed here in Australia. This year the committee will be offering both Methodology and Musicianship 1 and 2 in Term 3 to an increasing number of interested teachers. In 2004 we offered 6 workshops by interstate presenters as well as the Kodaly courses.
In 2008, KMEIA ACT hosted the National Conference for the first time in 30 years. The Conference was opened by the Hungarian Ambassador to Australia, His Excellency Mr Gabor Csaba. Key note speakers included Jerry Jaccard (USA), Joy Nelson (USA), Judith Johnson (QLD) and James Cuskelly (QLD). The conference coincided with a very successful choral festival featuring the Gondwana Choral, Vox Pacifica, The Strange Weather Gospel Choir and local choirs.
In 2009, KMEIA ACT are proud to host a Choral Conducting weekend with Mr Paul Holley, conductor for the Birralee Blokes and Resonance of Birralee, from 11 to 12 September.
